Passage: Jonah 3:1-10
The central theme in the book of Jonah is the grace and compassion of God. In the third chapter, Jonah learns that God’s message is more powerful than the messenger. God shows him that his compassion is greater than Jonah’s disobedience. On the other hand, the Ninevites learned that God’s grace is completely undeserved, completely unexpected, and completely God’s prerogative.

Passage: Jonah 2:1-10
It is when we are at the most helpless points in our lives that we realize the greatness of God’s salvation in Christ Jesus. In the account of Jonah, Jonah came to know that every moment of his life was under the determining hand of God. He realized the hopelessness of being out of communion with God. And, he realized that his new life is all God’s doing, and not his own doing.
